The company was founded in Newcastle, Australia by Albert Toll when he hauled coal by horse and cart to serve.
The Albert Toll Company was purchased in 1959 after Albert’s death in 1958 by National Minerals to become a part of a mining conglomerate, Peko Wallsend, later and used Toll’s business for transportation. Following a long history of success and name changing, the company evolved into Australia’s largest transport operation outside the capital cities. DX Mail services cover 1,200 locations in over 50 countries. It generated an AUD8.7 billion in revenue for the 2014 business year. The Toll Group was acquired in 2015 by Japan Post to spearhead its global logistics operation and became a subsidiary of Japan Post with headquarters in Melbourne, Australia.
